I find the basic ingredients in this simple elderberry syrup recipe goes better with the many ways to enjoy it.  I’ve tried several variations and while I like the added benefits and hint of cinnamon, ginger, vanilla and/or cloves, my husband is not a fan.  After quickly identifying the distinct taste of cloves, he asked, “Why not just the berries?” Good point.   If you want to ensure everyone (kids, spouse, finicky friends) will love it, you may want to start with the basic ingredients for simple elderberry syrup, then go from there.
