SERVING SUGGESTIONS:

For overall wellness and prevention, suggested dose is 1 teaspoon for children and 1 tablespoon for adults, daily.

TIPS:

Once the first batch of elderberries syrup is done, I like to REUSE the elderberries. Because elderberries are so packed with vitamins, fiber and antioxidants, I couldn’t just throw away (mostly) perfectly good elderberries. I found I could get another (at least) two more rounds out of the elderberries by simply repeating the same process. Of course, each time it will get weaker and provide less benefits, but I enjoy the “lighter” version as a refreshing juice or tea.

BUY LOCAL. Local honey from a reputable bee-keeper is one of the best ways to get honey. Local honey means local bees from local trees and can be a good source for protection against seasonal allergies – and – a good way to support your neighbor!

Whether you’re making elderberry syrup, extract, juice or tea, ingredients can be adjusted to your liking and/or desired consistency.

Everything is flexible, have fun with it!

  • 1 tsp arrowroot powder OR cornstarch to thicken

  • Stir honey into the cooled and strained liquid, mix well to incorporate.

Notes

To best preserve the properties of the berries and benefits of the honey, do not over process. Gently boil, gently mash, gently strain the elderberries.
Adding honey at the very end of the process will help preserve the integrity
and health benefits of the honey.
If giving to young children, add honey during cooking process, or omit.
